UPDATE: KARIEGA POWER OUTAGE

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to inform residents that while the team was busy with fault-finding following the power outage, they discovered a cable fault between Cuckoo and Weaver substation. Supply has been restored to certain parts of Kariega, however, the following substations are still off due to the cable fault: Frankolin, Stilt, Mannerin and Cuckoo.
The team will continue working around the clock to restore power supply as soon as possible.

POWER OUTAGE IN SEAVIEW OVERHEAD LINE

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to inform residents that a 6.6kV circuit breaker tripped at SEA 2 causing a loss of power supply in Seaview line 2 up until Seaviwe line 113.
A team has been dispatched for investigation and repairs.
More update will follow as they become available.

POWER OUTAGE IN ZWIDE AND KWAZAKHELE

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to inform residents that a 11kV circuit breaker tripped at Matomela/Nduna substation causing a loss of power supply in Zwide, KwaZakhele and surrounding areas.
A team has been dispatched for investigation and repairs.
More update will follow as they become available.

UPDATE: Electricity Outages Impacting Water Supply in Motherwell and Kariega
03 April 2025
During the weekend of 29-30 March 2025, NMBM experienced two major electricity outages in Kariega and Motherwell. This has severely impacted water transfer to the western parts of NMBM and Kariega, with critical reservoir levels:
Motherwell ??44%?
Chelsea?? 20%?- critical
Greenbushes?? 61%?- critical
Summit?? 21%?- critical
Emerald Hill?? 32%
KwaNobuhle Res 4?1%
Emergency interventions, including generator-powered pump stations, have been implemented to stabilize the system.
Residents are urged to use water sparingly as the system remains under strain. We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation.
Refuse collection at the following depots has been completed as part of the Public Health Directorate's service delivery priority:
1. Straunway depot
2. Cuyler depot
3. Gail Road depot
4. Despatch depot
Residents are encouraged to report all illegal dumping by calling the toll-free number, 0800 20 50 50 or 041 506 2833.

The team will continue working around the clock to restore power supply as soon as possible.
