An 11 bedroomed guesthouse; 3 self-catering units; 8 en-suite rooms; Original oregan pine building features built in 1908. Steeped in history; From being a farm house with stables to a memorial home for Dr Ray Schauder.
The Schauders were altruistic and Adolf Schauder was the mayor of Port Elizabeth from 1940 to 1945; He was known as the `father of housing’ and played a pivotal role in developing the Schauderville township for the underclass and poor .
Buckingham place diningroom is is the site of a special supreme court hearing held in 1959 for Dr ray Schauder presided by the honourable Justice O`Hagen. This was a pioneering case and the 1st time a legal case was held in a private home. Dr Schauder opened up the rule for doctors to divulge to patients the truth on illnesses, in her case melanoma.

A borehole has been installed with water harvesting to make sure we never have a water problem.
Buckingham guesthouse is dedicated to addressing environmental issues; we have started an organic vegetable garden/free range hens/preservation of old trees on the property/compost heap and water harvesting.
Solar energy is our next project.
We are also dedicated to helping those in need and are known as an `unofficial’ place for coffee and sandwiches for the poor.
