Description
Holy Trinity Anglican Church stands in Havelock Street. In 1854 dissident members left St Mary’s congregation to form their own church. The first minister, the Rev. W A Robinson, arrive in 1857 and the present church was built in 1866, the tower being added in 1872. The erven on which the church was built were donated by Hendy Maynard. The church was burned down in 1897 by a mentally deranged woman but was rebuilt. Sir Alfred Milner laying the foundation stone. The architect was William White-Cooper. It was declared a National Monument in 1993.
