A day at the Races
10 September 2010 - 10 September 2010
Re: 2010 Tourism Month: Save Bayworld Campaign
Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism is committed to making a difference in Tourism Month, September 2010, by reviving the Save Bayworld campaign and Friends of Bayworld support group.
Bayworld has hit troubled times, the worst ever. The facility has financial resources to last it until October 2010. So, all those who are serious about the growth and development of Nelson Mandela Bay need to rally together now to help Bayworld survive.
No city that is serious about developing tourism should be without iconic museums. It makes sense for NMBT to assist Bayworld in troubled times. Bayworld has limited public relations and fund-raising capacity, so NMBT has stepped in to try and alleviate the problem, as part of its commitment to creating awareness and developing tourism during Tourism Month.
NMBT, together with the people of Nelson Mandela Bay and even further a-field, would like to raise at least R300 000 during tourism month. This will be used to feed and medically care for the animals at Bayworld and also towards the redevelopment of the history exhibitions of Nelson Mandela Bay, inclusive of Uitenhage, Despatch and Colchester.
Citizens all over the world, get behind their city treasures. Let us in Nelson Mandela Bay be challenged and inspired by that. For 154 years, Bayworld has played an integral part in the cityscape and many of our lives. Its museum has taught our children and it has provided endless entertainment to millions of visitors.
As part of 2010 Tourism Month, Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism will host a “Surf ‘n Turf Day at theRaces” (Fairview Racecourse, Greenbushes) on 10 September 2010 to raise funds for the Save Bayworld Campaign. The day will start at 11.30 and continue to about 17.00. Entertainment will be provided in the VIP area and an American Auction will be held to raise additional funds. Guests are encouraged to dress up in the theme of the day and to enjoy horse racing to benefit Bayworld.
We would appeal to you to get involved through one of the following options:
Option one:
