CASAC-EC Cultural Festival
The annual CASAC-EC (Colleges Association for Sport Arts and Culture) TVET Cultural Festival will once more be hosted at the PE Opera House over a three day period packed full of entertainment and friendly inter college competition. The eight Eastern Cape Technical and Vocational and Education Training (TVET) Colleges which will be competing against each other in the various genres are :
• Buffalo City TVET College, East London
• Eastern Cape Midlands TVET College, Uitenhage, Graaff-Reinet and Grahamstown
• Ikhala TVET College, Aliwal North, Sterkspruit, Ezibeleni and Queenstown
• Ingwe TVET College, Maluti, Mount Frere, Ngqungqushe, Siteto and Mt Fletcher
• King Hintsa TVET College, Teko, Willowvale, Centane and Dutywa
• King Sabata Dalindyebo TVET College, Mthatha, Zimbane, Libode and Ngcobo
• Lovedale TVET College, Alice and King Williams Town
• Port Elizabeth TVET College, Port Elizabeth
The CASAC-EC Cultural festival boasts genres that incorporate and celebrate the uniqueness of the Eastern Cape. This year’s genres are Drama, Dance, Poetry, Traditional Beauty Pageant, Debate, Public Speaking, Comedy and introducing the two new genres: Dramatized Poetry and Visual Arts.
The theme for this year’s festival is “Unlocking students’ academic potential through, arts, culture and heritage”
An expected number of over five hundred students, sixty lecturers and family members will descend in the Nelson Mandela Bay, spending hundreds of thousands of rand in accommodation, food, beverages, transport, and a whole lot more. CASAC-EC and all TVET Colleges are contributors in the economy and tourism of the Nelson Mandela Bay.
