Centapex 100 National Philatelic Exhibition

PORT ELIZABETH PHILATELIC SOCIETY
2012 heralds the centenary of the Port Elizabeth Philatelic Society. Founded in 1890, the Society was reconstituted in 1912. The centenary celebrations are taking place this month and on this memorable occasion, the Port Elizabeth Philatelic Society is hosting the national stamp exhibition. The Junior Stamp Exhibition (Junass) will be incorporated into the occasion.
On the occasion of our centenary, the exhibition, known as Centapex 100, will take place from Thursday, 18 October 2012 until Sunday, 21 October 2012. The venue will be held at Bayworld’s newly renovated Events and Exhibition Centre situated within the Museum Complex in Humewood and entry is free. 
There will be approximately 380 Senior exhibit frames on show and, additionally, about 50 frames will be allocated for the Junior Exhibition. The majority of the exhibitors are from all corners of South Africa.
Traditional philately covers all periods of South Africa, Great Britain and the Commonwealth as well as the Rest of the World.
Postal History exhibits will include the same categories as well as Historical, Social and Special Studies; all World. There will be a Thematic section as well as Aerophilately, Maritime and Disaster Mails. A very interesting collection of postcards of Port Elizabeth from the nineteenth century to the turn of the twentieth century will be on show. Much of this material is extremely rare and never been seen before by the public. There will be a host of other material exhibited. This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to view classic and interesting philatelic material.
Stamp dealers from South Africa, the U.K., Namibia and Botswana will be in attendance. The Republic of Indonesia will also be present with the main object of showcasing their beautiful country as well as their diverse cultural activities.
All visitors are most welcome and the exhibition is open to the public from Thursday 18th October until Saturday 20th from 10h00 to 17h00 and on Sunday 21st from 10h00 until 14h00.
