Family Day - SAAF Museum Port Elizabeth

It's time for our well known Boerie Rolls and Sauces again.

SAAF Museum PE invite you to our next Family Day on Saturday, 27 April 2024 from 09h00 to 15h00.

The Port Elizabeth Branch of the South African Air Force Museum, Forest Hill Drive, Southdene, is located on the southern side of the Port Elizabeth Airport.

The Museum boasts a total of sixteen aircrafts, including helicopters, a supersonic jet fighter, two of the world famous Harvard trainers among others, and the oldest surviving jet fighter in South Africa.

There are ongoing restoration projects by a team of dedicated enthusiasts, who are members of the Friends of the S.A.A.F.Museum. There is also a display of aircraft memorabilia, together with a fine collection of models and pictures in the main exhibition hall.

Interested aviation enthusiasts will be pleased to actually view the restoration work being carried out in a restored World War 2 hanger (Bellman Hanger).

Another must do is the flight simulator which is dedicated to SAAF Buccaneer 415, piloted by Maj. S. Odendaal and Maj. P. Webb when it disappeared on October 16, 1969, off the coast near Eshowe in Natal during a training exercise. Enjoy a flight simulator experience in two simulators for only R25.

Enjoy our delicious Boerewors Rolls for only R40. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate for only R15. Cold beers and ciders will also be available for the adults R30 and cold drinks for the younger ones R20.

The youngsters can enjoy themselves on the Jumping Castles under parental supervision and a make-up artist will entertain them with face paintings.
