International Culture Fest 2019
Nelson Mandela University is hosting the upcoming International Culture Fest on Saturday, 17 August from 11:00 – 15:00 at the Tramways Building in Baakens Valley, Port Elizabeth. The aim of this festival is to get the community of Nelson Mandela Bay involved in our cultural activities and for us to showcase our appreciation for diversity on, as well as off campus. Nelson Mandela University not only appreciates the different countries and cultures within the University, but would also like to celebrate the Nelson Mandela Bay’s cultural diversity.
This festival provides a platform for Nelson Mandela University students and members of the public from different cultures, religions and backgrounds to get together under one roof to learn and celebrate the City’s rich culture.
The University’s International Students will be divided into their different country stalls to showcase the food from their country and culture. Free samples will be handed out to all attendees to enjoy various cuisines from a variety of countries.
Local food vendors, each representing different cultural cuisines, as well as coffee and sweet treat stalls will be available.
You are sure to be entertained with a jam packed programme of local artists, bands, and dance groups from the Nelson Mandela Bay and the University. Performances will cover a wide range of cultures.
Entrance fee is R5, however Nelson Mandela University students can enter for free, only upon identifying themselves with their student ID cards. There will also be a shuttle service available between Summerstrand and the Tramways Building during the event for Nelson Mandela University students, but only upon identifying themselves with their student ID cards.
