Ironman African Championships 2020
EVENT POSTPONED
IRONMAN African Championship:
This event has been a favourite on the European race circuit for over a decade. The day begins with a one-lap, 3.8km swim course beginning on Hobie Beach. Athletes head out parallel from the pier and turning left after 300 meters. The course then goes past Humewood Beach all the way to Kings Beach before turning and heading back towards Hobie Beach. The water temperature is usually in the mid-70's and the seas is often calm.
The new bike course takes athletes out on two laps of 90km, completing the 2018 Isuzu IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship course in reverse, which includes the recently resurfaced road. The route starts along the coast at Marine Drive, delivering sweeping views of the ocean and the rugged coastline, before heading towards the breath-taking Maitlands. You will enjoy protection from the easterly wind as you head through the suburbs of Port Elizabeth on this smooth, faster bike course.
The spectator filled run course consists of four laps to make up the 42.2km run route. Enjoy the support of the spectators all the way, as the run course has been diverted to include the Driftsands residential area at the turn-around..
