Melanated In Herstory
Melanated In Herstory is telling a story of a young woman living in South Africa and having to navigate life as a black woman between race, femicide, and identity.
This production highlights the experiences of a dark skinned girl living in a colourist society, how celebrating culture connects us to our ancestors while it also makes us remain relevant in our modern society and the story telling of experiences of those who come before us, and how history has affected the way we move around life today.
This production aims to create conversations amongst young people about how we move through race, land displacement, femicide, colourism, mental health and culture today.
