Nomfusi The Lucky Charms present The Mophiatown Mzansi Tour
Bringing you the fire of Motown and the Spirit of Sophiatown, Nomfusi and The Lucky Charms present the Mo’phiatown Mzansi Tour. In a mere three years in the industry Nomfusi’s had global audiences at her feet with 9 international tours under her belt. Now it’s time to heed the call from her rapidly growing local fan base. In the month of November, the multiple Metro FM and SAMA nominee is ready to rock crowds throughout Mzansi with The Lucky Charms, bringing you their signature blend of Sophiatown jazz and Motown soul…. a style they have dubbed “Mo’phiatown.” With five power packed performances in three major cities, the tour kicks off in Nomfusi’s hometown Nelson Mandela Bay, formerly known as Port Elizabeth, on 2 November at Café Zanzibar at 7 pm. As entry is free, limited spaces are available so fans are advised to arrive early. With a second performance on 3 November, these home coming shows will see Nomfusi give Nelson Mandela Bay the same high calibre shows that Europe and North America have come to enjoy. The show is supported by Nelson Mandela Bay tourism. The Nontsokolo songstress is surely to wow the crowd on both nights before she jets off to Cape Town for another exciting performance. The iKapa show happens at the recently revamped Zula Bar at their new location in Long Street (the old Nyoni’s Kraal), as part of the annual Zulafest, where Nomfusi will be performing shoulder-to-shoulder with other great Mzansi artists. She completes the tour in Johannesburg at the Bassline in Newtown, with two ticketed concerts on 18 and 19 November. “The time is ripe to do a proper introduction of Nomfusi to Joburg audiences. She has a bright future here, we are proud to be the first to showcase this phenomenal young talent in our city,” says The Bassline’s CEO Andrew Holmes. “The tour will present the opportunity to be more than just a media star in South Africa and shed the label ‘overseas artist.’ It’s time to reach out to local audiences beyond their TV sets, who understand what my music is about, and give them the same high voltage performances we have been giving Europe and Canada. Touring abroad has grown me as a live artist; it’s now time to share that with Mzansi on a national level. I am very happy that we can offer two free concerts in my home town Nelson Mandela Bay. There has been an outcry on my Facebook page since the screening of the My World documentary on SABC1 for more live shows. I can see a riot happening…this is so exciting!” exalts the petite dynamo, Nomfusi.
