The community of the villages of Cannonville and Colchester on the banks of the Sundays River Estuary will hold their 12th annual Trash Bash on the 17th September 2011 from 09h00 until 12h00. This event will from now on coincide with the International Beach clean up day, which takes place globally on the 3rd week end of September each year. Local residents and children from the local primary school will join forces to remove huge amounts of litter from the banks of the river estuary and the streets of Cannonville and Colchester. Ferries, river boats, bakkies and trailers will be used to bring the litter to a central point from where its carted away by sponsored tipper trucks. Sponsors will also provide the necessary items required to collect and carry the litter to the large bins placed at the slipway. After a great day of fun and excitment all who have participated will sit back and enjoy refreshments and eats while celebrating their committment too cleaning up the local environment. In the years to come the aim is to include more people from outside the community as well as encouraging greater sponsorship to assist in making the day a great success.
