Bring the kids and join the beach activities. Bring your family bring your friends to congregate on the ocean surface and celebrate her beauty and bounty, let’s bring attention to her plight.
At Shark Rock Pier – Hobie Beach, 8 June from 9am.
- Float, paddle and swim out to end of Shark Rock Pier for meet and greet.
- All kids dress in blue – be part of our blue planet be part of our ocean
- Kids come and participate in:
- Shark art competition prize giving (Prodive)

- Games on the beach
- Shark sand art
- Help build a life size shark puzzle
- Leave your mark and do a banner painting
Algoa Bay is home to a wide variety of sharks, some residential such as our ragged tooth, pyjama and leopard sharks, other are frequent and regular visitors to our beautiful bay. Recognized as one of the world’s temperate biodiversity hotspots and candidate for Mission Blue Hope Spot status is witness to the areas uniqueness and biodiversity.
World Ocean Day Sunday 8 June 2014 we have the chance to celebrate our magnificent ocean, the life it holds and sustains. Come and join us for a celebration of beauty, concern and hope as we highlight the plight of the hunters of the sea. Big or small, fast of slow, pretty or ugly each shark has a vital role to play to ensure the health of our oceans. Prosecuted beyond reason sharks are in desperate peril and need our help.
