Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism (NMBT) recently produced a promotional DVD for Nelson Mandela Bay that would sell the city as the ultimate tourism destination.
The DVD that depicts all the unique and diverse attractions that Nelson Mandela Bay has to offer, will be presented both locally and internationally to create global exposure for Nelson Mandela Bay. It will be showcased on various platforms to as many audiences as possible. The DVD will also serve as marketing material for local and international trade shows and tourism expos. Although the DVD wasn’t created solely for the purpose of the 2010 Fifa World Cup, this is seen as an ideal marketing opportunity not to be missed.
CEO of Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism, Fezekile Tshiwula said, “Nelson Mandela Bay has so much to offer in terms of rich culture, magnificent attractions and breathtaking scenery, that we could not simply showcase it through still images. We, therefore, decided to produce the DVD to give potential visitors and investors a glimpse into our spectacular city”
The DVD has not only created a platform for tourism but for the local film industry as well. Local company, Boomtown Strategic Brand Agency was responsible for the creative concept and project management, while Rooftop Productions was appointed to produce the DVD. This ensures the growth, development and support of the film industry which has been identified as a high priority sector in terms of the governments Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa (ASGISA). Every person in the DVD is a resident of Nelson Mandela Bay who was given the opportunity to promote the city through their own experience.
The DVD was launched at the NMBT stand at Indaba 2010 in Durban and has since received rave reviews and already has over 2 200 views on Youtube. Watch it at http://www.nmbt.co.za/videos.html.
