No Eye Deer to kickstart Christmas giving, parties
WE HAVE all heard the joke about the no eye deer and the still no eye deer – but a local group of good hearted party lovers have decided to put a Christmas spin on the pun and turn it into a fun, funky charitable event.

“With all the commercialism that comes with Christmas, it’s hard to always keen at top of mind that Christmas is less about receiving and more about giving,” said Sian O’Keeffe, organiser behind the No Eye Deer party.

“Imagine what it’s like having no presents or food on Christmas Day or being abandoned before you have a start in life, or are an abused or abandoned animal. The No Eye Deer party is the chance for people of Nelson Mandela Bay to get an idea of what a little giving can do for someone less fortunate.

“We took the joke and turned it into something tangible. The fact that in Nelson Mandela Bay thousands of children have no idea what it’s like to have the kind of Christmas some of us experience has driven us to try give these children a Christmas to remember – and of course, to have a jol.

“The aim behind the No Eye Deer event is then to create a space where giving is possible – and so is celebrating, being grateful for the gifts we have and the gifts we are able to give.”

The event takes place on December 15 at Caprice, Humewood and feature’s some of the city’s best DJs, a full buffet of cocktail style finger foods, fire shows, a photo booth, shisha bar, and lots of surprise giveaways, all include in the price.
The early evening will see the Brothers from Other Mothers – aka Jorn and Joe van der Linde – jamming to the sunset and the late night lowdown will be ruled DJs Shane and Pete Larkin dominating the decks.

Tickets for the event are R150 and all funds generated will go to three worthy charities: Save A Pet Foundation, Animal Welfare Society and Isithembisa baby’s home. The catch is that all party-goers must bring a compulsory gift to the value of R50 for a child between the ages of 5 and 16. All presents will be handed over to Sister Ethel at Missionvale.

“Go on, be a dear, we implore you to support this event. It will be both a lesson in giving and an incredible, fun, funky party experience at a premier venue in Nelson Mandela Bay,” added O’Keeffe.

Tickets for the event are on sale at 11 Suffolk Streets Central. Doors for the No Eye Deer party open at 7:30pm. Tickets will be available at the door.
