Opening new Routes in the Eastern Cape
NELSON Mandela Bay is to form part of an exciting new Eastern Cape Coastal Route currently being established by Open Africa on behalf of the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA).

The route will span the entire coastline of the province from Tsitsikamma to Mzamba, on the border with KwaZulu-Natal.  Open Africa, the implementers of the project, is a social enterprise with over 15 years of experience in tourism route development. The route also includes inland areas such as the Baviaans, Grahamstown and the Greater Addo area to encourage tourists to explore different parts of the province.

Tourism specialist and Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism member Salome Clack said: “This is indeed exciting stuff. Open Africa is highly reputable and the implementation of such a route will certainly add incredible value to Nelson Mandela Bay as a tourism destination.”

A meeting was held in Port Elizabeth on Thursday, 27 November with attendance from a wide range of tourism stakeholders and business owners in Nelson Mandela Bay. Application for membership of the initiative is open to all tourism product owners. Queries should be directed to Francois Viljoen from Open Africa by sending an e-mail to francois@openafrica.org.
