SONGSTRESS NOMHLE TO HONOUR SA LEGENDS AT THE ANNUAL NATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL
Singer, songwriter Nomhle Nongogo is no stranger to SA music industry, her journey in music spans over 10 years working behind the scenes as one of the countries sought after session musician and backing vocalist. She began her professional music career in 2002 when she joined Joyous Celebration under the leadership of Lindelani Mkhize, Jabu Hlongwane and Mthunzi Namba.
In 2011 she released her debut album Ikwezi (Morning Star) which received national acclaim and two nominations at the 18th South African Music Awards for Best Female and Best Adult Contemporary Album.
Nomhle has been scheduled to perform for 3 nights at this year’s Standard Bank National Arts Festival under the Contemporary Music programme. She will perform songs from her previous album as well new music from her upcoming album. Part of her performance will include a tribute to SA’s music royalty the late Lucky Dube, Jabu Khanyile, Stimela and Yvonne Chaka-Chaka whose music Nomhle grew up listening.
The performances will be dedicated to Nomhle’s drummer, music producer and business partner Sisa Sopazi who passed on last week Friday after a shot illness.
