The Bayside Pantry goes German for October

True to tradition, The Boardwalk’s Bayside Pantry brings to life the tastes and aromas of German cuisine during the month of October.

“For a real taste of authentic German food, this is as good as it gets. Our German guests will feel like they are back at home, eating the familiar foods they love, just like their grandmothers would have made them. At the same time, our German-themed dishes give our other guests an exciting opportunity to explore the flavours of Germany,” says Nqobile Majozi, Marketing Manager at The Boardwalk.

From start to finish, the buffet is a food adventurer’s delight. To start, there is a selection of traditional German soups with rolls and Bauerbrot (sweet bread), as well as salads such as Wurstsalat (cold meat salad), Waldorf salad and German-styled herring salad. What follows is an array of authentic German dishes like Krautwickel (mince wrapped in cabbage), Schwenkbraten (marinated pork rashers), Sauerbraten beef and other carvery meats.

The hot pots station is decked with hearty stews and casseroles. The choice includes Wild Schweine Ragout (wild pork ragout), Brandenburg lamb stew (lamb stew with potato and green beans), Bayrischer Goulasch and Paprika Hendl (chicken casserole in paprika cream sauce).

The taste adventure culminates with an indulgent selection of German sweet treats such as Prinzregenten torte (cherry torte cake), Bayerishe crème (chocolate and vanilla cream), Schwarswalder Kirsch Torte (Black Forest cake), German Beer Crème (crème brule) and rich Donauwelle cake amongst others.

Taste Germany every Wednesday in October at The Bayside Pantry between 18h00 and 22h00. The cost is R275 per person. Booking is essential on (041) 507 7793.
