THE PEOPLE’S PORT FESTIVAL – A FOODIE HEAVEN

Masterchef finalists Siphokazi Mdlankomo and Claire Allen, also known as Short Chef Skinny Chef are performing two food demonstrations at the People’s Port Festival on March 25^th and 26^th. And they have even created a special dish for Saturday’s evening pop-up restaurant.

Head to the demo stage area at 1pm on Saturday and Sunday to see Siphokazi cook up a storm, with Claire following at 2pm, who will be using green line fish for her demo. The Short Chef Skinny Chef live show will be on Saturday at 4pm and on Sunday at 11am.

In addition to enjoying being entertained by Siphokazi and Claire, visitors to the free festival will also be able to participate in a fish braai competition, purchase fresh fish at the festival’s market, chow-down on street food from over 20 food trucks, and enjoy dining in the Bocadillos pop-up restaurant.

Mastertons coffee demo

On the 25^th and 26^th at 12pm, the team from Mastertons will be showcasing the various coffees and equipment available for the home barista, with a selection of coffee blends available for purchase.

Eyethu fish braai competition: March 26^th, 12pm

Entrants will be given a beautiful snoek to braai up a storm on March 26^th. Using their own secret blend of herbs and spices, competitors are challenged to create their best meal.

Competitors to bring their own ingredients, and are only allowed to use the snoek provided.

Bocadillos pop-up restaurant, shed 11

A delightful coffee spot during the day, come night, it will be a reservation-only dinner spot where Siphokazi Mdlankomo and Claire Allen have created a set menu with a La Motte wine paring experience for diners to enjoy.

About the People’s Port Festival

Throughout the weekend, there will be a number of unique experiences available for people to immerse themselves in:

• The iconic SA Agulhas which has just returned from Antarctica will be available to board, and some of its crew and researchers available to interact with

“The event isn’t just about showcasing the port and the cargo that is imported and exported,” adds Dana. “Visitors can enjoy entertainment from national artists, purchase fresh produce in our fish market and even participate in watersports.”
