Winners Announced for the 2024 Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism Awards
The 2024 Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism Awards (NMBTA) was a night to remember. From the moment guests arrived at the glamorous gala event, the air was filled with excitement and anticipation. This year’s awards honored the hard work, creativity, and passion of the local tourism and hospitality industry, shining a spotlight on the people and businesses who make Nelson Mandela Bay a standout destination.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism Awards aim to celebrate and honor the best of what the region has to offer. Originally established in 2019 as an extension of the NMBBEA, the awards have since grown to highlight achievements across all facets of tourism.
As the evening unfolded, attendees were treated to moments of celebration as eight winners were announced, each representing the best in their respective categories. From hidden gems in accommodation to innovative experiences and up-and-coming youth leaders, the event highlighted the incredible diversity of talent in the region.
The 2024 NMBTA Winners by Category:

- Caterer: Petronella Craft Foods and Catering – With creative menus and attention to detail, Petronella Craft Foods delivers culinary experiences that stand out.
- Cultural, Conservation & Sustainability: Raggy Charters – Apart from delivering once-in-a-lifetime marine experiences, Raggy is recognized for its commitment to conservation and sustainability, Raggy Charters continues to lead by example.
- Tour Guide: Lizl Nieuwoudt – An expert guide who brings the region to life with her passion and knowledge, and equips others while doing so.
- Transportation & Tours: Awehness Travel – Awehness Travel was celebrated for offering unique tours that highlight the magic of Nelson Mandela Bay.
- Up & Coming (Youth Focused): Devson T Luzane – Devson’s innovative work in tourism earned him this special award, marking him as one to watch.
- Photography/Videography: Firefly, the Travel Guy – With a creative eye for capturing the beauty of the region, Jonker Fourie from Firefly brought Nelson Mandela Bay to life through his lens.
The evening was filled with camaraderie, celebration, and a shared love for the region that everyone in the room is working hard to promote. The organizers expressed deep appreciation to all the entrants and participants and eagerly anticipated even more success stories at the 2025 awards.
