The Gamtoos Valley, known as the Eastern Gateway to the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area, has become a very popular tourist destination with many B&B's self-catering and camping establishments, as well as restaurants, fuel-stops, banks and shops to choose from. Guarded by the majestic Cockscomb mountain the area offers visitors a range and diversity of activities to enjoy...from mountain biking, hiking, 4x4-routes, cycling, kayaking, fishing, bird-watching, game drives, photo safaris and day trips into the Baviaanskloof.
Gamtoos Valley is host to the annual Naartjie Festival, the largest Sundial in Africa, the grave site of Sarah Baartman, the well-known 9-hole Hankey Golf Course, Phillips Tunnel, Phillips Graves, Bergvenster (window in the mountain), and the famous Baobab Trees, Victoria Tree and Kei-apple tree.
The Gamtoos Valley boasts a warm, pleasant climate all year round and is free from tropical diseases, such as malaria.
